Villa Sorpresa, Old Town Puerto Vallarta

I prefer small boutique properties that offer extras when I travel, often lacking in large hotel chains. Matching a unique place to stay at a holiday destination is my goal, getting the most out of the time spent there from arrival to leaving.

Villa Sorpresa in Puerto Vallarta’s Old Town was a fantastic choice for a recent vacation. I wanted just the right place to feel at home, chill out in a peaceful atmosphere, be safe, and have the opportunity to meet other travelers if I chose. This location is mere steps away from the buzzy city vibes. Arriving from PV Ordaz International Airport, I immediately felt calm after my flight and was warmly welcomed for check-in the beautiful courtyard. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a fully decked-out pool surrounded by four inviting floors of guest rooms.

The newly renovated condo complex was just what I hoped it would be! It has modern amenities with the right touch of Mexican hacienda style. I had a fully furnished penthouse studio with a kitchen and living room area and ample outside space with seating and a table. There’s WiFi included if I want to do any work. Each morning I enjoyed coffee and sat on my balcony watching the sunrise. It was heaven hearing green parrots fly overhead and listening to the city slowly wake up. These were the first of many relaxed moments during my stay at Villa Sorpresa.

This ideal location makes it convenient for walking to the thriving restaurants, shopping, galleries, and nightlife scene within minutes of closing the door to my room. Two blocks away is the busy Basilio Badillo, an artery to everything in Zona Romantica. I can leisurely walk for 10 minutes to the beach’s white sands then over to the Malecon, soaking up the sun’s rays along the way.

After a full day of having fun and touring the city, leave the noise behind and return to Villa Sorpresa, lounge at the pool, listen to the calming waterfall, rinse off under the rain-head showers, and enjoy a drink at the poolside bar. Don’t feel like going out? Stay for dinner! A large grill is available to use in the courtyard. I loved eating there, then settling into a cozy nook and gazing at the stars. Who knows, maybe later I’ll head out to visit with locals and hit a nightclub or two.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, and I look forward to a return visit. Making new friends and sharing new experiences was an extra bonus. As a seasoned traveler, I know the importance of staying somewhere special, ultimately creating that difference for your vacation. Staying at Villa Sorpresa will do just that!
