It’s High Season Inside Vallarta!

I regularly feature five of my favorite things to see and experience, places to be, and people to meet in Puerto Vallarta.  And aren’t we so blessed to be here this time of year and through the COLD Northern Winter months?! Now is the time to highlight being in this paradise because we've just begun the busy, bustling, cultural, and exciting time of High Season and Holidays. As an experienced traveler, please realize the importance of good manners, which will take you far wherever you're fortunate to travel. Staying simple and to the point, here are five reminders to show good social graces whenever you are here in PV.

YAY! YOU’RE HERE!

First and foremost, always remember we are guests in one of the world's most beautiful and welcoming destinations. Whether we are lucky enough to be residents or vacationing visitors in this much-desired destination, Puerto Vallarta is a growing Mexican national treasure to be respected. The most frequent question is, “What do you love most about Mexico?” My number one and personal answer is “The people.” Even during extended stays here, I always remember being a guest in a foreign country and acting accordingly. By doing that, I'm amply awarded acceptance and goodwill at a street taco stand or wandering around the many quaint and authentic neighborhoods shooting photos. It’s a great treat coming upon locals wanting to interact with you in conversation!

MAKE KINDNESS THE NORM!

Show the love! Treat everyone with kindness, respect, and non-judgment. So easy to do, yet many of us project an unkind and unnecessary tone in our voices in public spaces. The simple words "please" and "thank you" go a long way in obtaining what you want or need here. Be aware of your surroundings because sometimes too much over-exuberance and loudness is not necessarily welcome. There’s truly a time and place for everyone and anything here. Locals love interacting with you, so spread the joy of being here.

APPRECIATE ALL THE MOMENTS!

Please don't take the warm hospitality of Puerto Vallarta for granted. The people of this ever-expanding and fast-growing area know visitors come with funds to spend. And there’s so much here to spend your money on! Tourism is the most significant industry. There are fabulous hotels, resorts, or rented condos, cruises on a catamaran at sunset, wave-jumping on a whale excursion, shopping for Taxco silver jewelry and artisan goods,, or simply sitting outside at local taco stands eating for mere pesos. The warm and welcoming citizens know visitors are here ready to spend. You won’t be taken for granted as you find or create one minute into the next being excited to be here!

REMEMBER THE GIFT OF TODAY!

Each day in this sun-drenched destination is just waiting to be unwrapped. Begin your day by smelling the salty breezes from the mountains as they waft over the ocean. Why not recognize and acknowledge folks with a bright morning "Buenos Dias." Instead of passing by, give locals a warm smile. This tiny, heartfelt effort makes everyone's day, including your own. Please note and observe how hard the people of this bustling, continuously growing city work within their many communities. Support in their business matters. They strive hard to ensure your stay, however long, is everything you hope it will be. They look forward to your return.

TREASURE ISN’T BURIED HERE!

There's so much to enjoy in Vallarta out in plain site, but it isn't endless. Take advantage of the natural resources found here. But with so many unspoiled areas throughout this city, it’s essential to help retain them. There are plenty of places to dine at any time of the day or night. Indulge in fresh-caught ocean fish, and area farms produce trucked in daily. Puerto Vallarta is now on the map, welcoming and supporting international chefs and their culinary talents. The precious commodity of water is in high demand between new construction and single-family homes here. You’ll find a mecca of regional tequila here that will satisfy the beginner and the connoisseur. But, be mindful of over-indulging in all the offerings. If your gut instinct says "enough,” listen to it.

Now you know why this is the perfect time to be here. Enjoy everything there is to offer. Get fully immersed. Treat Vallarta as you would your own beloved home. You know what it's like to have visitors stop over, trusting they will act respectfully. Well, act accordingly here. Lastly, cheers to a beautiful and safe High Season. May it meet all your high expectations!
