Summer Travel Doesn’t Have to End!

While it may seem like summer’s end, there are still weeks ahead to late September and early October, meaning there’s plenty of time to see the world and sought-after destinations that are usually crazy-filled with tourists during High Season. One fantastic component is knowing families have settled in back home for the beginning of the new school year with kids getting ready to be back in class. There’s now availability to see the sites you want to travel to. Even remote out-of-the-way corners of the world are more enticing late in the season, with booking rates dropping considerably for resorts, hotels, and cruises. Now is the time of year to take the opportunity to travel to your dream destination, near or far! Late Summer through Fall can be the perfect time to book that long-awaited getaway. Discover why great travel choices are available, allowing you to enjoy it even more!

For most of us, the anticipation of travel remains year-round. I feel an unescapable eagerness and enthusiasm blanketing me whenever I prepare for a trip. That exhilaration has stayed intact as I became the extensive traveler I am now. As a child, I remember going to the Summer County Fair or waiting for the Christmas holidays with such anticipation I couldn’t sleep! Remember those days? That same emotion carries over every time my next adventure is in the planning stage. With so many destinations available worldwide, the excitement of outlining a trip equals the emotional rewards I will receive while being away.

While there are so many airlines to choose from, United Airlines has been my choice for flying for so many years to destinations worldwide. I love the "welcome home" family feeling I receive, putting me in a relaxed mode and ready for the length of time up in the clouds. I love it when the announcement comes, "Door closed." Then numerous other announcements are heard over the speakers: fastening seatbelts, reminding all about oxygen masks, using the blow-up life vest, and the location of exit rows. I know the drill by heart. Even if I'm not in a window seat, my inner timing is such that I know precisely after speeding down the tarmac when the wheels rise and lock in place after the beginning ascent into the clouds. That's when the excitement started for me. Welcome to the friendly skies. "Folks… It's your Captain. We are 75 miles from touching down in (name your destination!)." Doesn't that sound like a space rocket 🚀 coming home from its mission? If where you are leaving from or on your way to is called home, consider the time flying from one city/airport to another part of your adventurous journey. You're almost there!

The ability to book stays in unknown but recommended boutique hotels, find the best shops for one-of-a-kind takeaways, and unique restaurants to dine in are just a few more options available this time of year. Knowing you won't have to face prime travel season is something to look forward to. Imagine enjoying those intimate spaces for morning coffee and not being blasted by noisy guests or the uncrowded sidewalk cafes for dining al fresco on a cornucopia of freshly harvested choices late at night. Daytime tours are easier to book and navigate when visiting ancient ruins. And you'll still have plenty of warm sun to light all the sites.

Consider traveling now for apparent reasons. Exploring places from your bucket list in far more open spaces is critical because you’ll be able to appreciate where you are when exploring and enjoying all that surrounds you without interference. Feel free to take all the photos you want without waiting for families and large groups to finish posing in front of fountains or endlessly staring at museum paintings. Avoid the crowds milling and crowding around architectural artifacts. Significant financial savings are available during the off-season, too. You’re less likely to bust a budget booking accommodations now. Experience the local culture with its authenticity to the fullest without stress from the locals who are happy to share their way of life with travelers. Exploring the local culture will add benefits and memories to your travels. You’ll be able to experience life naturally without the crowds of tourists to move your way through.

I traveled to Iceland in the middle of September; even with blowing winds and cooler temperatures, it didn’t feel like the frigidness of Winter that would be coming soon. Viewing the Northern Lights this time of year was a spectacular, jaw-dropping bonus!

So, NO! It's not the end of summer yet if you ”want to be there." Take a step in the right direction from “almost there” to making it a reality. Manifest yourself at your destination, taking every fleeting moment to remember forever. Bon voyage!
