Spotlight: Low Touch, High Experience for Travel 2021

I can't believe it's been over ten months since I've traveled the way I used to. Since early March, I haven't flown anywhere. It's the end of 2020, and as I say goodbye to this year, I look forward with hope to 2021.

I have created the most incredible memories on past journeys. I want to capture that feeling again, even during these challenging times. Can we safely plan extended trips yet? Many people are currently taking the risk to travel again and escape their monotonous, everyday routines.

Some past adventures included me tucked away in Southeast Asia to blending into Europe's everyday life.

The excitement of booking unfamiliar locations, meeting new people, and learning about different cultures are just some of the benefits of exploring the world. Many countries currently allow U.S. citizens to enter, but there may be restrictions.

Capturing unexpected moments is always a bonus when traveling.

It is crucial when arranging a journey to be self-protective right now, from the moment you leave home until you reach a final destination. There are safety rules to acknowledge in all steps of the travel process.

Because I am in public spaces much of the time during travel, I have developed a regimen. For the past few years, it has been second nature to wipe down seats, trays, and window areas of all transportation modes.

  • I use Clorox Disinfecting Wipes on touchable surfaces when traveling. They come in convenient packs of 15, have a lemony fresh fragrance, and easily store in my backpack.

  • Purell Hand Sanitizer is a great go-to product when washing your hands with soap and water is not possible.

  • A practical TUMI backpack has been my hands-free, carry-on luggage choice for a long time. It is lightweight nylon with a separate compartment for my laptop and pockets to hold my passport, credit cards, phone, charger, and earbuds. The many storage options help me stay organized even during fast-paced airplane connections so that I do not have to replace lost items on the road, keeping my trip as "low touch" as possible.

My motto for travel in 2021 is "low touch, high experience." I wish you healthy travels in the New Year!
